But, as many fans has noticed that Touga wanting to *soiler here* protect Utena is the reason why he failed. He is treating her as the regular princess thus he has failed to understand her - however, Utena has failed to understand him as well. She initially did not understand his meaning but I think she had to fight him. Also, it is Utena's destiny. She must accomplish revolution. She needs to transcend. *Spoiler Ended* I kinda support Utena - Touga and She in the series would not have had a nice romance in the first place. But I respect Touga's wishes at the end. He becomes noble the way he should have always been ^_^ Actually, I also felt bad for Touga.
