Unless the grandmother ordered someone to let the volcanic gas escape in order to kill of the entire village as soon as Rika dies. As for the sixth murderer from the original construction site murder, the police know exactly who it is, from the testimonies of the other five (who were successfully captured), which means that it wouldn't be somebody like Mion, whose whereabouts are common knowledge.
