Final Flight of the Osiris is a bridge. If you actually go through these in order, watch The Matrix, then watch Final Flight of the Osiris, then play Enter the Matrix (video game that picks up right where Final Flight of the Osiris leaves off), then watch Matrix Reloaded, then watch Matrix Revolution and it all fits.

Yeah agree with Null.
You probably missed the point because you didn't watch the third movie. The giant drill was the way the Sentinels used to attack Zion, and the attack of Zion is a huge chunk of the plot. This particular film might not be a parallel story in itself, but it probably contributed, however little, to the real story. The point is not in the love story or the plot, or the fighting. But the fact that the machines are going to attack Zion, and that the city must be warned.

You missed the point of this short. It wasn't meant to be thought provoking or deep, it was a bridge between the movies. Its been such a long time since Ive seen them, however movie 2 or 3 makes reference to the Osiris and that disk. On that disk is information about that giant Drill.
