Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 2 Airdate confirmed, and possible Ayakashi Sequel

Yes! The airdate for Higurashi 2 finally has been announced. The second season is coming in July. The twenty-second, if I’m not mistaken. Now all that’s left is to hope that all of the arcs will be animated, and not just the seventh and the eighth one.

Still, that’s not nearly as interesting as some information I found while checking out Moonphase. I’m really not sure about the details, but an upcoming anime (also scheduled for the upcoming summer) called Mononoke strangely has a picture of the medicine seller from Ayakashi ~ Japanese Classic Horror on its website, and it also mentions Ayakashi once.

Oh, I’m so hoping that this is some kind of sequel or similar story of Bake Neko. If it actually is, then we’ve got ourselves a serious contender for the “best anime of 2007″. Bake Neko already was one of the best short stories I’ve ever seen, but it’s going to be even better seeing an entire anime dedicated to this concept.

  1. Aren’t the 7th and the 8th “all the arcs”? Unless you’re counting bonus/special arcs released separately, but not originally part of the game’s story.

  2. Supposedly, there were also three arcs released on the playstation, with one of them containing the “true ending” of Higurashi.

  3. Here is what I read from the Anime Nation news site concerning the Ayakashi news:

    “Mononoke,” a spin-off from the January 2006 Ayakashi ~Japanese Classic Horror~ anime television series, will premier in July. Mononoke is apparently a spin-off from the “Bakeneko” story arc of the Ayakashi TV series.

    So it looks like you’re in luck!

  5. Well what’s good in a warm end wonderful weekend of may when everybody is enjoying themselves at the seaside and you are ill at home?
    Nothing more that you have enough time to watch to an entire jewel of a serie in 2 days like this. You missed it last year? Yes? And do you know the news? The sequel has been announced to air in a couple of months either!
    I didn’t have to wait over one year for the sequel :p How a lucky boy am i ^^

  6. Heh, I can imagine that it must be pretty nice to not have to wait for the second season so long. I’ve had to wait for a massive nine months for some new material. ^^;

    Still, I’m looking forward to it a lot, I can’t wait till July comes. :)
