Yan: it's quite ironic, as one of my major turn-offs for Hayate no Gotoku was the fact that the character-designs looked ugly and the animation was horrible. I'll try to pay attention to the animation for the second episode, as I do admit that I was paying attention to other things while watching the episode (like, trying to understand the dialogue. ^^;)

I was suddenly keen to look at some good show. First of all, :D Hayate no Gotoku! will be the most highlighted anime for Anime Spring 2007 in my list.

ON with the main point. Koutetsu Sangokushi...I'm horrible with Japanese but I have decent knowlegde after watching a lot of it already. It's horrible...voices... :) Miyano at certain was able to synchronize with the main character. But serious o.O The plot seems twisted...was the guy with the fan Zhuge Liang or something. Well he looks evil...is this an insult to the novel >.>

Characters...art work...okay...animation...bad... Just look at their lips and try not to laugh. It'll make you wonder how they were able to breath without when their mouths were open. Their battle scene :( seriously terrible. I thought there's going to be some exciting slashing but it's just a guy dissapearing and appearing and effects of slashing left behind. If it's the matter of speed there's WAY better animation studios out there...

Songs...whoa...now that's very well done ^^ Praise for their outstanding composer.

It's my point of view...:/ It was a major dissapointment but I might continue to watch. I'll drop it if they don't improve any of the animation.

Having watched Koutetsu Sangokushi, I now looking for soap for my eyes. While it is clear that its production is relatively higher than other series, the first episode was absolutely horible. First, the characters are lacking, and their dialogues just keep sending (bad) shivers up my spine. Also, it's like the characters do not have a mind of their own. Their ideals/principles change waaaay too fast. Plus, their actions are almost never justified.

Conclusion? Unfortunately (for me), the horrible characters and storytelling outweighs the amazing art and seiyuus.

The Darker Than Black comment, I don't really understand. He's purposefully faking the normal whimpy guy act

*spoiler look away*

(he's an agent of some sort so he has to fit in) and that he is the guy behind the mask at the beginning whose actual personality is rather deadly right (sorry if that's a spoiler but it was in the trailer ^^;)?

*end spoiler*

He's definitely not a whimpy lead, though he is portrayed as perfect so far.

Whether or not the show suits you though is another matter and your welcome to not like it :)

Koutetsu Sangokushi is a series I immediately began to look forward to as soon as I learnt it was set in the Three Kingdoms era and, once more, starred the Kingdom of Wu, easily the one I have the most interest in.

Although the idea of Lu Xun (I have managed to place each of the characters with their Chinese names using the official website's character chart, and the hero's name translates as the strategist/advisor Lu Xun) gaining great powers does not match what I expected from the show, I am still looking forward to it and I'm glad it seems to live up to its setting thus far.

What a surprise, regarding Koutetsu Sangokushi. I expected it to be bad, but I was going to watch it anyway due to its connection to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms/San Guo.
