Mononoke - 11
Whoa… so everyone was hiding something! This story is probably the most horror-focused arc of the series with the arrival of yet another Bake Neko. I have no idea what the heck the Kotowari is supposed to be, and why the train-driver turned out to be the key-figure for this mystery, nor do I want to try and guess it. All I know is that I’m going to anticipate the final episode of this exciting arc. This is what I’ve been expecting from this series, and it’s going to be interesting whether this arc will be able to be as exciting as the original Bake Neko.
psgels, to give you a heads up, the people behind Mononoke ran out of budget for the last episode. Most of it is a recap, and the buildup is absolute crap. It’s a pity, but after a string of great episodes, Mononoke falters in the end due to its lack of budget.

That is such a pity… and I was hoping for the final episode to be one of the best of the series yet…

I’m not sure what roastedpekingduck is talking about, because just to confirm, I went to watch the raws. I saw no such thing, no recaps at ALL (unless a flashback to the events that lead to the “suicide” counts as a recap), and I thought the buildup was splendid, exactly what I expected from Mononoke thus far. If the last episode is something on low budget, I couldn’t tell at all.

I confirmed Harumi-san’s comment. The last episode’s animation quality don’t drop at all!!! It’s great as same as rest episodes.
I want mononoke more, only 12 episodes don’t enough for me. **sad**

Basically, Mononoke had a massive buildup and then ended with a “okay less evil people are forgiven and everybody spends there days happily ever after” ending that was a massive copout and completely contrary to the series usual tone.
