That's okay, it happens in a lot of languages that either the same title is used for different types of relations, or the names are very similar. The woman is Marius' aunt, though (I think), she's just a spinster who lives with her pop. That can be REALLY confusing.

Well, this is just my mistake. I originally thought that Gillenormand was Marius's uncle because the words for uncle and grandfather are so incredibly similar (oji-san and ojii-san respectively). I've made the same mistake many times before, sorry about that.

Psgels says that Gillenormand has been referred to as "uncle" in this series. He's supposed to be Marius' grandfather, so I don't know if this is a matter of mistranslation or a simple alteration on the part of Nippon. This is no critique against you, psgels.

Uncle? Do you mean grandfather? or is there some random new character the writers came up with?

I know, Mme. Thenardier's weight loss thing really shocked me, too. I was also majorly disappointed that we saw Javert for, like, five seconds. But *SPOILER* he's in the next one, which I'm looking forward to.

In random news: I finally learned the word for convict in Japanese, even though I don't know how to spell it. ^^, I can't believe this series is almost over!
