I was surprised at how much I liked this. It does feel like the characters can be found in other anime but something about it all seems to work. The highlight for me (only scene first episode so far) were the family scenes, it's really refreshing for the mother not to be this cheery compassionate woman who's friends with her son, and the father not to be someone who's referred to but has no place in his family. Also the main character doesn't seem completely naive, he's a bit unlikeable as well which I think adds to the authenticity. This could turn into a moe/emo fest and I'll eat my words but it shows more promise for something different than most school based shows.

I never liked love triangles. Characters seem too
serious and over dramatic. It takes the fun out of young romance.
