This behavior it totally acceptable. His father literally has a harem. That's how Genji lost his mother. She was a low ranking wife, but the Mikado loved her more than the principal wife and others, so the other women hounded her to death.

You are aware that the General To, which whom he goes carousing with, is his brother-in-law? Yes, Lady Aoi is his baby sister.
At least he treats his lady-loves well when he is with them. Other than Fujitsubo, that is, though after all that he still cared.

I'm sure in his grief he will seek out Muraski. We've given her a little time to mature now, at least 2 years.

Can you really compare Genji to Touya? We are talking about two completely different time periods. The eleventh century isn't even close to 1980's standards of how men should act and treat women.

I've not been watching Genji Monogatari (though I have some idea about the plot of the original), so maybe my comment will be off-base, but here's my perspective: It's one thing for a wealthy/powerful/handsome (am I right here?) playboy to have girls swarming around him; it's another for a bland college boy to. I don't hate Touya, but I do think he's stupid (or at least dense) and cannot see why so many girls are obsessed with him. If I were watching Genji Monogatari, I would probably regard Genji as a "charming bastard" type. He's may not be admirable in his conquests, but at least a viewer can see why girls keep falling for him ... or at least, I hope this is the case ^^;
