Interesting to see Remus's character changing so quickly. Although characters that are useless and turn evil are usually the ones who die off saving everyone in the end. The story could still go on a completely different direction but that is my best bet.

Though I haven't watched the episode yet, I know everything about it. I won't try to ruin the fun of guessing, but I'll say you're over-thinking some things. Basically, this anime was made for anyone to get into, but a lot is unclear in the anime version for those who haven't read the books. In the books, due to the narrative and style, most things are explained out front. The anime is without that inner narrative, so the story is veru suspicious.
So, to calm you down on the Remus idea, his inner struggle is explained in full within the books. His change is much more smooth. However, I won't say anything about it since I expect something interesting to come out of the confusion in the future. *wink-wink*
Besides, it's just a bit different than how the novels take it, so... I'm completely left in the dark about some parts, too.
