Guin Saga - 20

This episode was a bit hard for me to understand, simply because so many things happened in it and a lot of characters I hardly even knew played a big role in it. It’s a build-up episode in which a lot of different stuff happens. While Remus prepares to take Parro back from the Mongols, a lot of other players are also putting their pieces in the right positions.

I suspect that a lot will become more clear in the next few episodes, but things are definitely looking exciting with that many players around. Istvan happens to intercept a secret message from the Mongols which makes him regret deceiving and killing the general, back in Nosferas, since his family is now looking for the one who did it.

With six episodes left after this, I wonder how the creators are planning to end this series. Are they going to rush through the current arc in order to get to the point of some big climax at episode 26, or are they simply going to keep up the same pace and just stop adapting once episode 26 has passed. If there is going to be a sequel, I’d obviously prefer the latter, but if the creators aren’t going to make a sequel then I’d at least see some sort of satisfying conclusion that at least wraps up the biggest plot threads.

  1. My first post here. Just wanted to say that I find this one of the best/ most informative anime-review sites on the web.

    About this series: my favorite of the season. Nice pacing, great music and voices and it has the bonus of being the first decent fantasy story that I’ve come across in quite a long time. But they can’t possibly plan to squeeze this in just 26 episodes, can they? How and where was the series length confirmed, anyway?

  2. Nice to see that people appreciate this blog. ^^;

    Anyway, it’s a good thing that you mentioned this. I could have sworn that I read somewhere that this season would only be taking up 26 episodes, but according to Anime News Network:

    the exact number of episodes isn’t sure yet. In a few more weeks we should get more clarity. Anyway, the Guin Saga novels span up to 130 volumes, which is some sort of all-time record so they’re going to have to cut the novels at some point, not to mention that the author recently passed away without ever finishing her series….

  3. From what I understand, this anime series is covering up through the end of book 19 from the Guin Saga novels. No idea if they’re going to be adapting books 20-130 at any time, but considering what a cultural phenomenon this series is, I’d say you can probably count on it!

  7. To think that Istovan was willing to sell out Parros ( and by default Rinda) in order to gain his fortune and the only thing that stopped him is the fact that he killed a mongol commander and that they might have a description of him.

  8. Tazman0208 Well Istovan is a Hebephile: he was willing to marry Rinda anyway regardless to get his kingdom: were you at all suprised?
