Mmm, Battler is even sexier with blue text, oooo la la

Needless to say, don’t expect the sequel to be out within a year, like with Higurashi Kai.

Magic is supposed to help people. It can shift the blame for a broken vase from a little girl who will be punished to a cat that will not. It can allow a man one last chance to speak to his lover. It can turn a tawdry tale of murder, greed and hatred into a terrible and glorious battle of mortal good against supernatural evil.

Maria and Ange’s “magic” may be this form of magic.

Other than that, this was an interesting episode. The blue text seems to give Battler a good tool to formulate his hypotheses and force Beatrice to respond to them instead of just choosing to avoid answering.

But now that they’ve brought up the issue of Kinzo being dead, I’m starting to think we’re seeing another magical illusion this time around. Kinzo almost never interacted with anyone during the previous arcs and when he did the circumstances were always a bit suspicious. Natsuhi could have imagined meeting Kinzo and the servants could have been acting out following his instructions.

On a partially related note, I don’t think Ange is literally reviving Maria with magic as much as she is imagining things after reading the diary. I suppose that’s where the whole bit about the power of belief comes from, no? We’ve seen more and more references to that. I also agree with Maria being a bit more tolerable right now, during these flashbacks, but I’m worried about that image of her as a witch in the opening sequence. The obvious conclusion would be expecting her to have a similar role to Eva-Beatrice.

Ookamikakushi, the visual novel for PSP, has already been released (still have to read it…) but yes, the anime adaption was announced for early 2010. Don’t know what you mean with ’same setting’ though. Different location, different characters, different story. If you mean that it resembles his other works then yes, kind of inevatible with that premise.

- Not necessarily. Unless real-world Battler sees it himself or it was announced in red, its merely a “show”, like the scenes Beatrice pulled in the last arc. And Beatrice *diddn’t* disprove it in red, now, did she?

The fifth game has just been released in October, and we can count on 8 games in all. So that’s maybe 1 and 1/2 years away, I’m afraid.

Next year, however Ryukushiki is going to be having another series, Ookami Kakushi, apparently in the same setting.

As for the episode, LOL blue text now. Realizing the red texst weapon was a bit unfair and onesided, Beatrice let Battler have his own coloured text. At least the match is a bit more balanced now, or will it be another trick to win easy? Pity the very first sentence Battler pronounced in blue was crushed by events in the subsequen scene. LOL
This serie is so LOL and continues to be even more LOL episode after episode.
