Kemono no Souja Erin - 45

whoa. Just when I thought that this show couldn’t pull any more plot twists. This episode yet again pushes the story into a completely different direction. Obviously, if you haven’t seen this episode yet: beware for spoilers because this episode ties up a lot of the mysteries in this series.

Because holy crap, it was Damya all along. This guy really struck me as someone with ambitions, however also with loyalties to the Queen. Turns out, it was all an act: he was the one who ordered the collection of Touda eggs, the attack on the queen, and all of the other things that those masked guys did. On top of that: Kirik is one of them! He was the one who nearly escaped from Ialu a couple of times, and now he’s been sent to keep out an eye for Erin.

This episode also put in some major development for Kirik, and it really paid off. We finally get to fully see what that flashback of his meant: he and his sister were orphans, and were taken in by people who just wanted to kill the two, so he ended up poisoning them. The climax really worked, between him and Ialu.

But yeah, the worst part is going to be Erin: we now know that she’s really been tricked, and that Damya has no good intentions for her whatsoever. Throughout the entire episode, we could only see her sitting in a corner, thinking of the possibility of having the Beast King force disbanded. With only five episodes left, the end is finally getting in sight.
Rating: ** (Excellent)

  1. hummm, for me it was pretty obvious that it was damya all long and that kirik was the masked guy who fought Ial.

I still need to watch episode 44 and 45.

  3. I also thought the Kirik part was pretty obvious already. I wonder what he is going to do from now on…
What shocked me is that Damiya is planning to marry the queen!? I-Isn’t he her uncle?

Looking forward to Iaru/Erin develpoment next episode :3

  4. It’s been pretty obvious to me that Damiya was up to something, but I had my doubts about him being the leader of the masked guys. It didn’t make sense to me that he’d order an attack on the boat and then not get himself out of the line of fire. So maybe he’s just not a very smart evil mastermind.

I don’t think Erin has any illusions about the situation she’s in.

  5. It was suggested with a pretty heavy hand that he was behind the whole enterprise, which made me suspect that the twist that would occur would be to reveal that he had been a patsy of a group he thought he was in charge of, and that his goal of realizing a golden-haired Valkyrie riding atop the beasts had been subverted by some nihilists. Cue tragic death trying to make up for his ways, etc, etc. Alas, sometimes you only get what you’re promised.

Erin could have avoided her part in this from the moment Lilan could fly by just jumping on her back and running away, but then she’d have to grow up and stop acting like her obstinacy would be an effective brake on the whims of the kingdom.

  6. Yup, I also saw this twist coming ages ago.
That Damya would want to marry his niece to become king was obvious in episode 43. Yet that attack on the boat was stupid…if it had succeeded, it would have been highly suspicious to have him survive as the only one. And he could still have died if he didn’t pay attention…

  7. I thought that it was Damya all along and Kirik was pretty obviously the masked guy. With how Damya was looking at his niece the entire series, I assumed that he was already aiming to marry her.

The boat attack was pretty dumb though because he couldn’t have planned for Erin to save him. Unless the Touda riders were trained to kill everyone except him?

  8. lol, i thought that the episode would be amazing..didnt turn out 2 be what i expected… everything in that episode was so predictable…marrying his seimiyah 2 be king and being d mastermind…..everything about his personality tells us what hes gonna do

  9. Erm, it was shown that it was Kirik all along way back when he was first introduced and from that I thought that most people got that he was the one that Lalu had been fighting. Maybe you missed that episode?
